If you’re thinking that $50 doesn’t go very far when purchasing a TV series, here’s a nice surprise on Amazon: $50 will get you the full series of Newsradio. Thankfully, this isn’t a temporary sale price, making this even more of a bargain.
Newsradio showcases all of its characters without playing favorites, enhancing the narrative flow of every episode. There are a lot of good characters in this show. Phil Hartman plays a self-important news anchor, Dave Foley plays a fish-out-of-water news director, and the list goes on. The depth of the character interactions go far beyond what I’d expect for a situational comedy, and most of this is due to their focus on character development.
If you haven’t seen Newsradio before, watch a few episodes to get a feel for the show. Almost half of the show’s episodes are available for free on Hulu. Check out Hulu if you are in the United States, are okay with watching ads in the middle of episodes, and are using a Windows computer. It is a little restrictive, and they did lose a lot of content over the past few months, but Hulu is still a decent website for watching free TV shows.
